I took an old pair of jeans and made a scrap bag for my sewing studio. It was very easy, just cut out a round bottom, measured it and made a side up as a square the same size. I ironed fusible fleece on the outside jean fabric, cut some canvas fabric for the lining, cut handles out of jeans, pinned and sewed it together. Presto, I have a scrap bag and I did some recycling at the same time. I'm going to make many more, I think I will make some small bags for thread and other sewing supplies. They would be great for the house too, bathroom, bedroom, I could use one or two in every room.
Recycled Sweater
I took an old sweater and made a bag out of it, I think it turned out really cute. It was very easy to do, I cut the sweater -2 cuts - 17" x 17" and a 2 lining cuts the same size. I took a plate and rounded 2 corners on the sweater and the lining for the bottom of the bag. I sewed the sweater and the lining (RST) left a 3" opening for turning and once the pieces were turned I sewed them together (the corners were at the bottom of the bag) and left 6 inches not sewed at the top. I had some handles that worked out perfect for the bag and just folded the sweater and lining over them and hand stitched the handle in place. I love it! You can never have too many bags.
